James Law, Cybertect Presents Ground-Breaking Cybertecture Concept in Dynamic, Interactive Presentation

Beijing, September 18, 2004 – Cybertecture represents the future for design in China and around the world according to James Law, Chief Cybertect and Chairman of James Law Cybertecture International, a global consultancy based in Hong Kong, China specializing in the design and strategy formation of Cybertecture Projects.

Cybertecture incorporates the latest technology into every facet of daily life through visionary design. Cybertecture environments are hybrids designed from the inside out and using technology to give the space the intelligence needed to interact with its users. Cybertecture aims to enhance and improve the quality of life by harnessing the power of technology.

Speaking at the 1st Architectural Biennial, Beijing, Law will discuss the enormous potential Cybertecture holds for commercial, retail and residential design in China.

“Cybertecture goes hand-in-hand with the development of China, a 21st Century superpower. Akin to the industrial revolution of the 20th Century, the advent of highly-developed technologies in the early 21st Century has allowed for the birth of a new nation where its infrastructures have the potential to be revolutionary and forward thinking,” said Law.

“In this Cybertecture future, Cybertects will bring about the possibilities of limitless imagination in new forms of design, construction, communication and technology,” said Law.

Law has designed some of the world’s most innovative Cybertecture projects including the world's first artificial intelligence media laboratory for the Hong Kong Government; the world's first Bricks & Clicks shopping mall - Dickson Cyber Express; and the world's first "morphable" house in partnership with IBM in Denmark. Law was also the design consultant for the futuristic, Cannes-nominated film 2046 directed by Wong Kar Wai.

Law will present his latest China Cybertecture project - China Telecom, Cybertecture Centre, Shantou - that showcases a future China in relation to new technologies and new communications networks. This innovative Cybertecture project features cutting-edge technology including; Human Presence Detection Devices, Cyber Character Control and Host, Infra Red Location Devices and Ear sets, 3M Through Touch Technology, Fiber Optic Projections, Home Automation Devices and Animatronics Presentations.

Law will unveil the vision of Cybertecture for China by performing an interactive show on stage comprised of physical installations geared with audio-visual technology and a panoramic dual screen video presentation that will blend his own performance into the dynamic virtual reality on screen.
